How to spruce up beautiful old objects
Spruce up old furniture – and create a stylish atmosphere!
You can get pieces of old furniture from the flee market for little money. And with a bit of work you can transform them into stylish eye-catchers.
Thoroughly sand down the piece of furniture. Use a sanding sheet with a grit of 100 for your Bosch orbital sander or random orbit sander. Hard-to-reach areas can be sanded using a Bosch delta sander.
Then wipe down the surface with a damp sponge.
Once the wood has dried, sand it down again; this time, use a sanding sheet with a grit of 240.
Now wipe down the surface for a second time with a damp sponge.
Once it is dry, the third sanding run is done – again with a grit of 240.
Brush down the surface with a soft brush. Now you can apply varnish, wax or paint.
For a stylish antique look, you can apply some patina after varnishing or painting. Leave the patina to soak in briefly and then wipe it off using a cloth.
