Prepare the backboard

Starting with the Camphor Laurel - cut in half so you have two pieces of 700mm

Outline the surf fins

Using the other half of the timber trace the outline of 4 surf fins, make sure you include the extension at the bottom of each fin to insert into the back board approximately 8mm deep and 70 mm in length.

Cut out the surf fins

Use a jigsaw to cut around the surf fin shape.

Perfecting the surf fin shape

Once the fins are cut out sand the edges down into a slim fin like shape.

Mark out the spacing for the hooks

Next you will need to mark out 4 points on the back board for the fins.

Preparing the back board

Using an 8mm router bit, router out a depth of 8mm and 70mm in length. Test to make sure all the fins fit snug into the back board in each of the routered grooves.

Predrill holes

Predrill a hole into the middle of each routered out grooves. Put the fins into each hole with some wood glue.

Securign the fins

Secure each of the fins by putting a screw in each of the pre drilled holes.
