  • Overview
    • Bosch PEX 400 AE Random orbit sanders

With its 350 watts (rated power input), the Bosch PEX 400 AE random orbit sander is one of the especially powerful random orbit sanders for DIYers. It sits securely and comfortably in the hand due to its ergonomic design with softgrip coverings. One of the highlights of the PEX 400 AE from Bosch is its speed preselection. This is an advantage especially when working on varnished surfaces: if the DIYer selects a low speed, the surface will not get too hot and the paint on a workpiece will not burn.

  • Description
    • For a fine finish

With its 350 watt motor the PEX 400 AE from Bosch is an extremely powerful random orbit sander, but this system is also suitable for work requiring fingertip control thanks to its excellent handling. This is the case, for example, when sanding and polishing old furniture, door frames and stairs. The comprehensive accessories from Bosch enable all steps to be completed with the PEX 400 AE: sanding, intermediate sanding, polishing (coarse and fine) and finishing. DIYers can also perform the work in any room, rather than having to take the workpiece out to the garage or down to the cellar, thanks to the integrated Bosch microfilter and the low dust exposure.

      Especially high power

The PEX 400 AE is especially easy and precise to guide over the workpiece thanks to its optimised balance.

With its 350 watts (rated power input), the Bosch PEX 400 AE random orbit sander is one of the especially powerful random orbit sanders for DIYers. The orbital stroke rate is between 4,000 opm and 21,200 opm. The orbit diameter is 2.5 millimetres. This system has dimensions of 340 mm x 112 mm x 175 mm (length x width x height) and weighs about 1.9 kilograms. The PEX 400 AE from Bosch is therefore very compact and handy for a system in this performance category. This makes it easier to work overhead and to sand and polish larger surfaces for prolonged periods of time. The 125 millimetre diameter sanding pads are mounted using a Velcro-type fastening system, which makes them very easy to change.

Greater ease of use: the Bosch PEX 400 AE random orbit sander

Bosch PEX 400 AE random orbit sander

The Bosch PEX 400 AE random orbit sander is about a quarter more compact than its predecessor. This system is part of the Bosch “Expert” series, which is designed to meet the requirements of experienced and discerning DIYers. As with the smaller sister model PEX 300 AE, the PEX 400 AE is also better balanced than its predecessors: the handles are fitted in the optimum position relative to the tool’s centre of gravity. This ensures extremely easy and controlled guidance of the PEX 400 AE. Both random orbit sanders sit securely and comfortably in the hand due to their ergonomic design with softgrip coverings. What’s more, the fan wheel reduces vibration. As a result, the PEX 400 AE glides more smoothly over the workpiece than its predecessors.

      Finely tuned control

The PEX 400 AE random orbit sander from Bosch has enough power for demanding applications thanks to its 350 watt motor.

One of the highlights of the PEX 400 AE from Bosch is its speed preselection. This is an advantage especially when working on varnished surfaces: if the DIYer selects a low speed, the surface will not get too hot and the paint on a workpiece will not burn. This enables users to quickly and easily perform applications such as sanding down old furniture, door frames and stairs or intermediate sanding on varnished surfaces without the abrasive becoming clogged. Bosch has also equipped the PEX 400 AE with a dust box for minimising dust exposure. A dust extraction element takes the dust created during sanding and feeds it immediately into the microfilter container.

Paper Assistant for an immaculate fit of the sanding paper

The PEX 400 AE also offers the “Paper Assistant”, which enables the sanding paper to be mounted quickly and precisely using an applicator.

A special feature of the Bosch PEX 400 AE is its “Paper Assistant”. This paper applicator enables the sanding paper to be fitted to the sanding pad easily and precisely. This prevents unnecessary wear of the paper and damage to the sanded material as a result of abrasives not being mounted properly. Bosch has worked especially hard to provide excellent handling with this random orbit sander. Its handle sits securely and comfortably in the hand thanks to its ergonomic design with softgrip coverings. What’s more, the precisely balanced fan wheel reduces vibration. As a result, the PEX 400 AE glides more smoothly over the workpiece than its predecessors.
