    • 2 x lengths of 1800mm x 100mm 32mm x 120mm piece of dowel
    • 40 x 4 inch Bugle Batten Screws (Stainless Steel)
    • 4 x 9 x 60mm x 26mm Eye bolts
    • 4 x plastic shade cloth clips
    • 2m of rope

    Required materials:

    • H4 treated timber sleeper
    • red gum sleeper
    • shade cloth
    • plenty of sand

    Cut the wood

    Cut pieces of wood at 45 degrees at each end (base piece of boat shape.

    Pre-drill the base

    Pre-drill about 60mm deep with a 1/2 drill bit into each bottom of the base pieces.

    Screw the base pieces together.

    Cut the bow and stern

    Cut 4 x pieces of 1450mm x 165mm.

    Screw the 2 sides- to the bow and stern of the boat.

    Sand the edges on the top of each side.

    Cut 2 x pieces of 1145 x 200 (deck of boat).

    Drill 2 holes with a “13/32” drill bit 70mm in from each side of both deck pieces.

    Srew the bolt

    Sand the top edges of the deck pieces.

    Screw in a circle bolt into each of the pre-drilled holes to attach the sail to.

    Use 2 x lengths of 1800mm x 100mm. Sand off the edges.

    Drill a hole with a 32’ inch spade bit 80mm from the top of each piece.

    Screw deck piece in horizontally at the bow and stern of the pit.

    Place a 32mm x 120mm piece of dowel through both holes and screw each piece down to the centre of the pit.

    Place the rope

    Take the shade cloth and fold over length ways and place over the dowel for sail effect. Then place clips on each corner and tie to eye bolt with rope.

    Finish with sand

    Fill the sand pit with sand.
